    What is Agua Fresca?

The literal translation means "fresh water," which actually explains it pretty well! Agua fresca is a refreshing, non-alcoholic drink made with fruits (and sometimes even herbs and flowers!) blended with water and sweetener. What makes agua fresca different than a smoothie? It's poured through a strainer, so any chunks are left behind!

How to Make Watermelon Mint Lime Agua Fresca

It's incredibly simple! There are so many bottled versions of this light and sweet drink, but nothing beats making your own.

    1. Add watermelon, mint, maple syrup, and water into your blender. This is my favorite blender!
    2. Blend everything until it's totally smooth.
    3. Now pour it into a nut milk bag and squeeze out the liquid into a large bowl or pitcher with a spout.
    4. Divide it into 4 glasses, each with a couple ice cubes and a squeeze of fresh lime. You can also garnish with fresh slices of watermelon or mint leaves!

    Health Benefits of Watermelon

Watermelon is mostly known for being sweet, juicy, and delicious, but it's also really good for you! It's full of water and natural electrolytes, so it's a great fruit for hydration in the summertime. You also get vitamins A and C in every bite. Thanks, watermelon!

Can you believe this color? I love how vibrant and bright the watermelon makes everything! Combined with the freshness of the mint and a bite of lime, these are the very best summertime flavors.

    Description

This refreshing and simple drink was made for sunny days! Watermelon Mint Lime Agua Fresca is extremely easy to make with bright flavors. Just blend, pour, and sip away!

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 8 cups cubed watermelon (from one medium seedless watermelon)
    • 3 cups filtered water
    • 2 limes, juiced (plus more for garnish)
    • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
    • fresh mint for serving/garnish
    • 4 cups ice for pitcher

    Instructions

    1. Add cubed watermelon, fresh lime juice, maple syrup and water to a high speed blender.  Puree until smooth (about 20 seconds).
    2. Pour mixture through a nut-milk bag (or fine mesh strainer) unto a large bowl with a pour spout.
    3. Pour the strained mixture into a pitcher filled with 4 cups ice cubes and fresh mint leaves.
    4. When serving, pour overtop glasses filled with ice cubes.  Garnish the glasses with fresh mint leaves and lime wedges.  You can also use frozen watermelon cubes in place of ice if desired!

    Notes

    • For a sparkly twist, replace 2-3 cups of water with watermelon and/or lime sparkling water.  Instead of adding in the blender add to the mixture after it has been strained.  Stir well before serving.
    • For best results use a nut-milk bag instead of a fine mesh strainer.  It is faster and does a better job.
