Treat your senses (and your soul) with a cup of this vanilla-orange cinnamon glow tea. The harmonious blend of warm spices, bright citrus and creamy vanilla is more than just a beverage - it's an experience that will awaken your senses and bring a golden glow to your day. It's delicious both hot and iced!

I’ve always prided myself on having an impressive array of tea options at home, perfect for both my own indulgence and for entertaining guests. From classic black teas to herbal blends, my tea shelf is always stocked.
Yet, despite all these choices, my favorite tea is actually made from scratch. And my husband agrees! He said this vanilla-orange cinnamon tea reminds him of the Bengal Spice version from Celestial Seasonings which has always been his favorite.
This cinnamon tea is warm, spicy, sweet and aromatic with earthy undertones. It has a creamy finish from the vanilla, almost like chai tea without the need for milk or any sweeteners.
Making your own cinnamon tea is surprisingly easy, and it outshines store-bought tea bags (and even loose leaf tea) with its pure, comforting flavors. Plus it's fresh, customizable, free of additives or preservatives and more eco-friendly as well.
So grab some cinnamon, vanilla and an orange and let's create the magic of this vanilla-orange cinnamon glow tea!
Why You'll Love Vanilla-Orange Cinnamon Tea
- Warming aroma of cinnamon, orange and vanilla
- Seasonal, nostalgic and cozy cinnamon flavor
- Caffeine-free
- Quick and easy recipe using simple ingredients - no fillers!
- Eco-friendly - no tea bag or toxic packaging
- Enjoy any time of day
- Kids love it too!
Ingredients
This homemade tea is made from just 3 ingredients (4 if you add the optional maple syrup). All you need is:
- Cinnamon: I recommend using cinnamon sticks to infuse the boiling water over ground cinnamon. I prefer organic and fair trade cinnamon sticks to ensure they are free of pesticides and ethically and sustainably sourced.
- Vanilla: I use pure vanilla extract given I always have that on hand. A split vanilla bean works really well too! The vanilla complements both the orange and cinnamon flavors and adds to the sweet flavor profile.
- Orange: I like to add a few orange slices but you can certainly add more for stronger orange flavor! You can also use a teaspoon of zest from an orange peel instead.
- Maple syrup (optional): I usually only add this when I'm making it for the kids. Maple syrup adds a bit more sweetness while keeping the tea completely refined sugar-free.

How to Make this Vanilla-Orange Cinnamon Glow Tea
1. In a small pot or tea kettle, bring 2 cups of water to a boil on the stove top.
2. Add cinnamon sticks, vanilla extract, orange slices/zest and maple syrup (if using) to the pot or kettle. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes. The longer you steep it the stronger the flavor will be.
3. Strain the tea into your favorite mug and sweeten with more maple syrup if desired.
4. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a small orange slice for presentation.
5. Serve hot or iced (make sure to allow the tea to cool completely first so the ice doesn't immediately melt and dilute the flavor).
Alternate Method: Use a Teapot with a Filter If You Have One
Make an easy recipe even easier by using a teapot with a built-in filter. I love this tea kettle because I can fit a lot of ingredients into the pot and then brew and strain all at once!
To make cinnamon tea using one of these, simply add the ingredients to the teapot and then pour boiling water overtop. Let it steep for 10-15 minutes and then pour to enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Steep longer for stronger flavor. Letting the tea steep longer intensifies its flavors, giving you a more robust and aromatic brew.
- Make it your own! Add a splash of almond or walnut milk for more creaminess, or switch things up with a hint of lemon or other citrus fruits.
What to Serve with Cinnamon Tea
I don't always need food with tea, but if I'm craving a little something I'll usually pair it with something sweet depending on the time of day.
Morning: For a light breakfast I love a cup of cinnamon tea with these vegan oat bars or these oat flour chocolate muffins.
Afternoon or Evening: I love having tea with cookies! Enjoy it with these pillowy snickerdoodles or these vegan "buttery" sugar cookies.
