Cool, frosty and bursting with pure apple flavor, these apple cider slushies are the perfect way to welcome fall. They're made with a handful of wholesome ingredients and taste just like the fun pumpkin patch version, but without the refined sugars or artificial additives. This refreshing treat is cozy, hydrating and guaranteed to be a hit with kids and adults alike!

Crisp air, jean jackets and that first sip of apple cider at the pumpkin patch... nothing says fall quite like it. Apple cider slushies capture that cozy, seasonal magic while still keeping things refreshing for those late summer and early fall days when it's warm outside but everyone is craving fall flavors.
I have such fond memories of pumpkin patch slushies topped with a doughnut around the straw, but those versions are often full of refined sugars, syrups and preservatives. I wanted to recreate that same fun, nostalgic treat in a way that feels fresh, hydrating and made only with real ingredients.
At first I tried blending apple cider with ice, but the result was watery and disappointing. Then I discovered the magic - freeze apple cider into ice cubes, then blend those with more cider! This ensures you get a thick and frosty slushie that never loses its bold apple flavor.

Ingredients

Make sure the cider you buy lists just one ingredient: apples. It doesn't need to be spiced or sweetened, and definitely don't grab apple cider vinegar by mistake!
I use apple cider instead of apple juice because it's less processed and has a deeper, more intense apple flavor.
How to Make It
1. Freeze apple cider into ice cubes.

2. Blend the ice cubes and with fresh apple cider, maple syrup and a pinch of salt until it reaches a slushie consistency. You'll want to use a good high speed blender to crush through the ice cubes quickly and give you that smooth slushie texture.

3. Enjoy! Garnish with fresh apples and/or a cinnamon stick. I love finishing it with a swirl of coconut whipped cream to make it a little more decadent (totally optional).

Recipe Tips
- Plan ahead for the ice cubes. Freeze the apple cider the night before so the cubes are ready to go when you want to make the slushies.
- Feel free to customize it! Add a pinch of ground cinnamon or nutmeg (before blending) for a cozy twist. Or, add a splash of unsweetened coconut water to add electrolytes and turn it into a fall-themed Nature's Gatorade!
- Adjust the texture easily. More cider makes it lighter and smoother, while extra cider ice cubes make it thicker and frostier.

This recipe is the ultimate seasonal refresher that gets me in the fall spirit. I hope it does the same for you!
