This healthy blueberry milkshake is thick, creamy and bursting with fresh blueberry flavor - all without dairy, refined sugar or artificial ingredients. Made with frozen wild blueberries, cashews, and naturally sweet Medjool dates, it has all the indulgent vibes of a classic milkshake but with nourishing, plant-based ingredients. It's the perfect treat to enjoy as a refreshing snack, wholesome dessert or even a secretly healthy breakfast!

On a recent trip to Great Wolf Lodge with my family, I saw an ad for a fresh blueberry milkshake that had my mouth watering. It looked creamy, decadent and frosty and was piled high with whipped cream and fresh blueberries. The only problem? It definitely wasn't vegan and was full of refined sugar and artificial dyes, which definitely is a no for me!
I couldn't stop thinking about it though. So when I got home, I set out to create my own version: a healthy blueberry milkshake that's just as creamy and dreamy as the one I saw, but made with whole-food ingredients. No food dyes, no syrups, no weird additives. Just simple, plant-based goodness!
Ingredients

This homemade blueberry milkshake is thick, frosty, perfectly sweet and loaded with blueberry flavor. The creamy texture comes from a winning combo of raw cashews, soft Medjool dates, frozen blueberries and plenty of ice. Blending this together is my trick for recreating that classic milkshake consistency without ice cream.
The dates also add natural sweetness and body (I found that 5 dates is the perfect amount!), while a splash of vanilla extract brings out that nostalgic vanilla ice cream vibe.
I love using frozen wild blueberries because they have a more concentrated blueberry flavor and a higher antioxidant punch, but regular frozen blueberries will work.

How to Make this Healthy Blueberry Milkshake
Simply blend all the ingredients together and then top with coconut whipped cream and fresh blueberries. That's it!

Recipe Tips
- Don't skimp on the ice. Use a lot of it to make it nice and frosty.
- Give it a protein boost. Add chia or hemp seeds for plant-based protein and enjoy it for breakfast!
- Can't have cashews? Swap them out for raw blanched slivered almonds.
Compared to my wild blueberry almond butter smoothie, this one really leans into that classic milkshake flavor. It's all about the blueberry and vanilla together in creamy harmony.

This milkshake is like a cross between a smoothie and dessert, and my kids absolutely love it. However you enjoy it, I think you'll love this healthy version too!
