This viral 2-ingredient berry cobbler is one of those recipes that seems too good to be true. It comes together with frozen berries and premade sugar cookie dough, yet the end result tastes like a cozy homemade cobbler with jammy fruit and a golden crisp topping!

Viral recipes go viral for a reason, and while I definitely don't make each one, this one immediately caught my attention because it checks all the boxes. It is incredibly simple as a true dump-and-bake recipe, is naturally vegan and gluten-free, and no mixing bowls, measuring cups or complicated prep required.
And yes, this one definitely lives up to the hype! I honestly give it a 12/10 and every single person I've served it to has been completely blown away, especially when served with my no-churn vegan vanilla ice cream!
The magic of this recipe is how the frozen berries bake down into a juicy, jammy filling while the sugar cookie dough transforms into a crisp golden topping that tastes surprisingly similar to a classic cobbler crust. It is such a genius shortcut because a traditional cobbler topping has a sugar-cookie-like flavor and texture.
Ingredients
All you need is frozen mixed berries and premade sugar cookie dough!

For the berries, I love using frozen organic mixed berries with blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries. Frozen berries are less expensive than fresh and so much easier to keep on hand. There is no worrying about washing or cutting fruit, or discovering moldy berries in the fridge. They make this dessert completely stress-free.
For the cookie dough, you can use any premade sugar cookie dough. I use Sweet Loren's sugar cookie dough (both vegan and gluten-free). The dough comes pre-portioned in little discs which makes this recipe especially easy. Keep in mind that other brands of cookie dough may bake differently.
The Key to the Perfect Cobbler: Smush the Cookie Dough!
At first, I followed the viral method exactly as written, but after testing this recipe several times, I added one small tweak that makes a massive difference.
The cookie dough discs tend to stay thick, gooey in the center, and less crisp around the edges if left untouched. The solution is to flatten the cookies slightly while baking so they'll get golden brown and crisp.

About halfway through baking, carefully remove the dish from the oven and use the back of a spoon to gently smush each cookie piece so the topping covers more of the berries. Then return it to the oven to finish baking.
This creates a crispier, more authentic cobbler topping without the undercooked cookie center. I also tested this smush method before baking (too hard even with using my hands) and after baking (doesn't crisp as well), and smushing halfway through is hands-down the way to go!
Instructions
1. Add two 10-ounce bags of frozen mixed berries to a pie dish (or casserole dish).

2. Place the sugar cookie dough discs evenly over the berries, leaving a little space between each cookie.

3. Bake for 28-30 minutes, gently flattening each cookie dough disc with the back of a spoon about halfway through. Done!

Recipe Tips
- Add arrowroot powder to the berries for a thicker filling. I skip it because I love the juicy, jammy texture as is, but it is an optional addition if you want less berry juice.
- Halve the strawberries if whole. Some frozen berry blends contain large, whole strawberries. If yours does, cutting them smaller before baking will prevent giant chunks in the cobbler.
- Watch the cobbler carefully during the final few minutes. The cookie topping can brown quickly!

Make Individual Portions
You can also make this recipe in individual ramekins instead of one large pie dish. I love this option for smaller portions or date-night desserts. Simply add a couple scoops of berries and one or two cookie dough discs to each ramekin, place them on a baking sheet and bake. No cleanup or storing leftovers - just a single-serving dessert!

Other Fruit Variations
I experimented with a few other frozen fruits while testing, and I can easily say that the mixed berry version remains my absolute favorite because it creates the perfect saucy cobbler filling.
That being said, frozen peaches worked well but the filling was not nearly as juicy or jammy.
And frozen cherries tasted good too, though they stayed a bit too chunky for my preference.
This recipe has quickly become one of my favorite easy summer desserts. I have already made it for for hosting friends, casual family nights and kids' playdates, and I know I will keep making it for years because there is truly no reason not to! It is ridiculously easy, requires minimal cleanup, and looks and tastes super impressive.
