Description

Create an Indian-inspired flavor explosion in just minutes with this easy homemade curry powder. No need to run to the grocery store - this blend of spices is made from 11 common ingredients you likely already have on hand in your pantry!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons ground turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground paprika

Instructions

  1. Whisk all of the spices together in a small bowl. Use immediately or pour into an airtight container for storage.

Notes

Alternate method: Pour all of the spices into a small jar, seal the lid and shake until completely blended. Just make sure there are no clumps!

Storage: Ground spices don't spoil like other food products but the intensity of their flavors will fade over time. Store this curry powder like you would other seasoning blends - in an airtight jar or container and in a dry area such as the pantry. Use within a few months for best results. After that point, it is still perfectly fine to use but the flavors may be a little less potent.
