Description

This simple, creamy vegan beverage is caffeine-free so it works anytime of day. I love the sweet, earthy, flavor it offers and creamy texture. I serve it over ice and find it to be incredibly refreshing during the summer heat. This is a quick, easy and delicious way to incorporate more turmeric into your routine.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup unsweetened, plain almond milk, oat milk or homemade cashew milk
  • 1/4 cup raw, blanched slivered almonds (not sliced almonds) or raw cashews
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric* or 1-inch of peeled fresh turmeric root
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract or a pinch of vanilla bean powder
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • pinch of black pepper for better absorption*

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend on high for 30-40 seconds to ensure it gets nice and frothy. You want to make sure you give it enough time for the slivered almonds to fully "dissolve" into the drink otherwise it will be gritty.
  2. Taste and adjust sweetness to your liking. Try adding more cinnamon if the turmeric flavor is too strong.
  3. Pour into a glass along with more ice cubes. You could add a sprinkle of ground turmeric or cinnamon on top if you want to be fancy.

Notes

You could use up to 1 teaspoon but I recommend starting with 1/2 teaspoon and working your way up if desired.

For better turmeric absorption add 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil and 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper to the blender before blending.
